How Long Will Punk’s WWE Title Reign Last ?

300 days has already past and the strap is still remains on the waist of the best in the world CM Punk. After countless victories from clean win to typical heel finish, Punk has maintained to evolve through out each PPV and make himself an interesting champion. But this post just begs the question of when will Punk’s reign end ?. It’s no suprise that Punk is a crowd favourite from his jaw dropping shoot promo to his weekly epic promos on Raw. His in ring skills clearly match up to his mic skills and let’s face it he’s even good on commentary. With The Rock already being penciled in for a match for the WWE Title at RR, does that mean the title will finally change hands to the people’s champ, The Rock ?. It’s a prediction many have already guessed as an easy one. Many of the post 98 Attitude Era fans believe it’s time for The Rock to change the course of WWE. But even if this is the case how long til Rock leaves for a consecutive countless time. Is it even fair the The Rock gets an easy gateway to a title match, or is this silly questioning because he’s The Rock ?. He’s no doubt one of Vince’s most prized possesions in WWE, but does that mean he should get title matches whenever and wherever. A bit off topic there, and to save you from the illerate messages I’ll be recieving, yes I am a huge mark for The Rock, but everybody has a moment in their prime where they are the best (well not everybody), but in my opinion The Rock has past his prime and CM Punk hasn’t which means one thing. In today’s wrestling world Punk can put on a better match then Dwayne. But let me crank it back a notch to what I think the future holds for Punk’s current 336+ days title reign. I believe Punk will hold onto the strap til Rumble but will lose from a 5 star match with The Rock, it’s hard to admit but one of the most greatest WWE title reigns today will come to a drastic end.

Night of Champions: Thoughts

Not a bad ppv in any form, it had it’s flaws but managed to keep me entertained throught the whole show. The 2 matches that had the most impact in my opinion was Orton/Ziggler and Cena/Punk. Ziggler delievered like he does every PPV, just cut out perfectly! I didn’t have an argument in sight for this match as from the start to the end I was glued to my tv. Where does this leave Orton is the primary question, It looks like he’s either getting a WH title shot or this feud just isn’t over yet. Ziggler has run his course of being Mr Money In The Bank, I think it’s safe to say that it’s about time he becomes WH champion. It’s going to happen sooner or later, and every next PPV people have ziggler cashing in as one of their predictions. The two big possibilities now are either HIAC or Survivor Series. To be honest I don’t see why they didn’t let Ziggler cash in at NOC, the moment was quite perfect, I doubt Sheamus & Del Rio are going to continue to feud and it would make sense since the ppv is titled “Night of Champions”. Well whenever Ziggler is cashing it better be a huge pay off no pun intended. The other match that made such an impact to me: Punk vs Cena. Was a brillaint story from when the bell was rung til the ppv was over. I like many others that were watching the ppv legally and illegally had cena pinned down as the new champion. They were in boston, it all seemed to add up but from the bridge pin it seemed like that was in fact the case til the match was pronounced a draw. I was really glad that the title didnt change hands and if it did what a dreadful way to end Punk’s 300 something long title run. Seems like WWE have put enough stock into Punk to have him hold on that strap a lot more longer, and I’m okay with this. Punk isn’t getting stale he unlike most champions today evolves. Punk is what’s keeping the WWE in order and without champions like Punk I’m sure this product would slowly be going down hill. By the way how awesome was Heyman, he was a great addition ring side I hope theres more to come from him. But to put it short and sweet, great PPV what made it even more awesome was JBL’s commentary he was brilliant I’ve read he’ll be commentating on Raw as well, let’s just hope he permantely takes Lawler’s spot on commentary.

Raw 7/30/12 Thoughts.

Right off the bat from the 1000th episode, the 3 hours begins. My first initial thoughts prior to watching Raw this week was that they’ll have plenty of useless segments & majority of it will cover the social media w/ tout & twitter. Not that I was fully negative going in to Raw, but I was pretty much correct. This weeks Raw was in fact piled on with unnecessary segments, touts/twitter & recaps of last week’s 1000th episode to fill in the time gaps. Not that those segments were all unnecessary I can’t say I hated Bryan’s segment with that doctor & his tantrum he threw in the ring, all parts of why he plays such a great heel. But under the layers of no match fillers, there were great segment and great matches.

Punk opening the show, was a brilliant idea. It jumped straight to the point of why he did what he did last week. From the looks of his entrance, Punk shared some shades of a heel as he silently walked down the ramp. Punk’s body language rubbed off as a heel, but that point was made towards the end of the show. But his confrontation with Lawler was solid, and it really spoke volumes towards his heel turn. Punk really has a way with his words where he leaves you convinced but he’s still playing the bad guy. It’s what makes Punk so damn good on the mic !. And it was also refreshing to see somebody call out Lawler on his terrible terrible commentary. I dug Punk’s explanation to why he gave Rock the GTS, it’s similar to Cena’s beef he had w/ Rock months ago. Pretty much your generic ‘you left the company and then show up after years wanting the spotlight’. It’s nothing short of the same reason behind Cena’s beef towards The Rock months ago. But I can see Punk putting on a whole better spin on this as the weeks follow up to the Rumble

AJ as GM wasn’t as disappointing as I thought it would be. I’m glad she dressed for the role, shades of Stephanie McMahon as Smackdown GM with the white collar & black suit. I thought it was pretty interesting, I like that her and Bryan still have some issues to deal with that was a little fun part for Bryan but I’m worried about what direction he’s heading in next. Kane ambushed him which says to me a feud for SummerSlam, which I don’t mind. At least Bryan is feuding with a wrestler who can actually carry out a full match. I wasn’t much of a fan of his street fight match w/ Sheamus, brawling outside of the ring… kinda not my thing.

I thought the best match on Raw this week was the tag team match. Both were excellent teams, felt good seeing Christian & Jericho reunite as a tag team after so long. Ziggler tore it up, I thought he did his best work with Christian in this match. Ziggler sold that spear like a fucking boss. Incredible stuff from all 4 men, glad to see this Jericho/Ziggler feud progress. Hopefully SummerSlam will see these two guys stealing the show more then Brock & Triple H.

Cena & Big Show’s #1 contender match for a title shot at SummerSlam was pretty bland, Punk’s commentary help lift this match for the most of it. Big Show throwing Cena into Punk was pretty rad. But the end outcome was pretty dumb, I was hoping for a clean Cena win. But I guess Show isn’t done with the main event spotlight, Triple Threat match ? I don’t know if I can dig it. I thought Punk & Cena were already penciled in for SS. I guess they didn’t want to duplicate last year’s SS main event.

Overall solid show, I haven’t checked the ratings it got, but I doubt it topped last weeks episode. I really hope they don’t continue with the irrelevant segments like Vickie dancing which sadly went over 10 minutes. And showing recaps is understandable but I found the recap of last week’s Heyman/Triple H/Lesnar segment annoying to be played 2 times, especially since it’s quite a lengthy clip. If next week progresses with less unnecessary segments and more matches like an actual Divas match, then we could be working with a solid show. Otherwise WWE’s attempt to fill in 3 hours is going to look dumb and desperate to fill in time gaps with irrelevant segments that you know are done to help use up the extra time.

Zaheer’s Predictions: Money In The Bank 2012

Pre-Show: WWE Tag Team Champions R-Truth & Kofi Kingston vs. Hunico & Camacho

Just like every other pre show match, no fucks will be given. There’s two things wrong with this match, 1. Titus & Young should be facing Truth & Kofi as they earned a title shot at the last PPV. And 2. This is one of the biggest reasons why the tag team division has no hope, if you want to show off your tag team division & to get people watching, you put this match on the live PPV. Whether it’s Titus & D Young or Hunico & Camacho, majority of everyone in the current tag team division have talent that should be shown off on PPVs. But long prediction short, Kofi & Truth are walking out victorious whether the titles are on the line or not

Prediction: Kofi Kingston & R-Truth

Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a World Championship Contract: Kidd, Ziggler, Rhodes, Christian, Santino, Tensai, Sandow, Sin Cara

This is the MITB ladder match that I’m most looking forward to, the talent in this match is incredible we’re nothing short of an epic MITB ladder match. Although there are only a few possibilities in this match, I can see the impossible being possible in this match. Last year we saw the rising of Daniel Bryan as he proved everybody wrong and took down the briefcase. Could this be the exact same case for Tyson Kidd ? I hope not, I’m not exactly a Kidd mark besides the fact that he’s a pretty good worker in the ring. For Kidd to take down the briefcase would be far too soon, sure he could use the briefcase to build his character & to elevate himself to the top. But it’s really not necessary as we have a few more deserving men in this match then just Tyson Kidd. In my opinion either Rhodes or Ziggler will be walking out with the briefcase. It’ll really show who WWE really has more faith in, If it was up to me I’d book Rhodes to be victorious. Reason being is because Rhodes is still attached to mid card status, grabbing the briefcase down will not only give him a WH title shot. It will open up doors for Rhodes, Rhodes’s character will broaden horizons, he could basically use the briefcase to make him such an important factor on top w/ the other maineventers like The Miz did. Either Rhodes is our new Mr Money In The Bank, or Ziggler pulls down the briefcase. I really wouldn’t mind Ziggler walking out with the briefcase, but he’s already cemented himself as a top maineventer, he’s been put up their with the top cats like Punk & Sheamus, the only thing this briefcase would do is elevate him to permanently stay on top because as of now he’s all over the place. More possibilities could be: a surprising win from Sandow, this could be a major push, he has all the tricks of the trade & I would be fine with it. I don’t really see Christian, Santino, Sin Cara or Tensai winning whatsoever. Sin Cara is pretty much just the spot monkey in this match, Christian & Santino who shouldn’t even be in this match are just fillers. And Tensai would really be a poor choice, I don’t think the crowd or anybody would buy into Tensai as our future WH champion.

Prediction: Cody Rhodes

Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a WWE Championship Contract Kane, Cena, Jericho, Big Show

The fact that there is only 4 opponents in this match tells me something, either a swerve is going to happen or there is going to be a surprise entrant. I’m hoping we get a surprise entrant perhaps 2 maybe, but I’m hoping The Miz puts himself in this match somehow it would make it 50% more interesting I guess, with more possibilities also. The easiest prediction would be John Cena, but it seems so likely to happen that it feels like there is going to be a swerve like Jericho grabbing the briefcase. That seems like something that is highly possible, I doubt Big Show would stand a chance he’s already been put in the mainevent picture for far too long same goes for Cena. What I really would love to see is Kane walking out with the briefcase, ever since his WWE title match w/ Punk & Bryan he’s struck a new chord of relevance to me, he’s elevated higher to an interesting maineventer, it seems unlikely as he’s probably just a filler in this match but then again anything is possible in these kind of matches.

Prediction: Chris Jericho

World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio

It’s sad to say but I don’t really care for this match, it’s just dragged from prior to No Way Out. And as much as I’m trying I really can’t get behind Del Rio, his in ring skill is off the charts but character wise, I’m not buying it. I’ve read that Vince wants Del Rio to be more aggressive but that’s not really the problem. I think the rich millionaire gimmick has been too perfected to be perfected again. Anyway, my prediction for this match would go either way but it’s looking like Sheamus is going to retain & most probably move on from there. If Del Rio is victorious I’m not sure how that’s going to pan out storyline wise & I’m really not sure if the crowd would buy into that.

Prediction: Sheamus

WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan w/ AJ Lee as Special Referee

This is the main reason why I’m booking this PPV, & just as unpredictable the MITB ladder matches are I don’t have a clue how this is going to turn out. My worst fear is AJ getting involved mid match and fucking up a perfect match. I hope she does whatever when the 3 count is called. But back to predictions, I really hope for Bryan to walk out with the WWE title on his shoulder. I’ve read that plenty of times there have been last minute decisions when they wanted to put the strap on Bryan but then thought it wasn’t a great idea. Now is the time to execute that idea, I’m behind Punk 100% but I really wouldn’t mind if the title changed hands. Punk marked his spot as being the WWE Champion at this very same PPV last year, it’s no unlikely possibility that Bryan can do the same this year. But at the end of this match I don’t mind whoever walks out as our WWE Champion, because I know these two men will put on one hell of a quality match just like they did at Over The Limit.

Prediction: Daniel Bryan

A great interview with the submission specialist Daniel Bryan.

I hardly ever watch TNA, because of the terrible storylines and shocking bookings. But lately it’s been pretty interesting, I’ve really taken a liking to Bobby Roode, he rubbed off onto me as a very talented cat in the ring and on the mic. But as of lately it seemed that his title reign was starting to get a little stale. Then Destination X came and Roode’s title changed hands to Austin Aries, & it’s great that TNA is pushing talent that deserves to be pushed. Although it seems like TNA is trying to cement Aries into WWE’s own Daniel Bryan, not that having an Indy star on top is a bad thing. Could it be a title change to rope in the hardcore fans well whatever they’re doing, they’re definitely doing it right. And it’s weird to say but I’m looking forward to Impact this week.
